The 2017 Gateway to Equity Award was presented to Linda Ortenzo, the Director of the Carnegie Science Center.
Linda conducts a STEM program and competitions serving more than 10,000 middle and high school students annually at the Carnegie Science Center. All Beaver County eighth grade female students who have been nominated by their science and/or math teachers receive complimentary tickets to the Carnegie Science Center at our annual Girls’ Recognition Night which will be held April 10, 2017. This GRN event is partnered with CCBC.
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the economic, political, and social achievements of women past, present and future. It started in 1911. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria it is a national holiday.
AAUW PA created the Gateway to Equity award to honor individuals, groups or organizations that have shown, by action and philosophy, that they advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy or research.
This award is presented annually honoring an individual or organization that has shown by action and philosophy the promotion of the AAUW mission.
