AAUW Beaver Valley Branch

Please note TWO VERY IMPORTANT CHANGES from previous AAUW Kitchen Tours!

  1. No tickets will be sold at any of the houses. Same-day tickets can only be purchased at Beaver Area High School.
  2. The Marketplace has changed to Beaver Area High School on Gypsy Glen Road in Beaver unlike the previous location of Dutch Ridge Elementary on Dutch Ridge Road in Brighton Township.

If you are on Facebook, please like our Facebook page.  Also, help promote the Kitchen Tour by sharing the Kitchen Tour Facebook postings with a comment.

Vivian Mahli, Lea Kretchmar, and Jackie Heaney are administrators and should be given any corrections or additions, including pictures for the website.

The Fall Brunch is September 14 at the Wooden Angel, Bridgewater.  Social time begins at 10:30 a.m.; lunch will be served at 11 a.m.

I received the Boscov’s saving passes for the Friends Helping Friends event.  The 25% off pass is valid on Wednesday October 16, 8 a.m. until 11p.m.

I have 250 passes. If each member buys one $5.00 pass, we will have enough money to have the Science Center Mobile Van come to CCBC for 2020.  It would be a great way to expand our GRN. The committee will discuss when we would have the van come to CCBC after the GRN program. If we can sell more passes the money can go towards 2021.

Antiques – Jackie Heaney and Ginger Muns

AAUW Antiques Group met in July at the home of Jean Macaluso to commemorate our leader Norma Kehr. Norma led this group for over 20 years. No matter the topic, she came prepared to educate us on the history and provided us with a bevy of items from her collection. She was quite the collector. Although no one can replace her, Jackie Heaney and Ginger Muns have agreed to co-chair for program year 2019.

We are looking for new members to join us. You do not need to be a collector nor be an antique to belong. If you have an interest or just looking for an afternoon out, please consider us. We normally meet in a member’s home on the second Monday of the month. We do not meet in January, February, March, July, and August. In June we plan a field trip with lunch out.

This September, we meet on the 16th (third Monday) at the home of Nancy Cole. The topic is “Got Milk.” This will include bottles, creamers, and anything pertaining to milk production. Janet Wise is hosting our October 14th meeting and the topic is vintage kitchen items.

Investment Group – Deb Mangelli

The investment group will be meeting in October.  Members are: Deb Mangelli, Beth Hesselson, Sue Brandt, Val Keeley, Bonnie Reyes, Janet Wise, and Jean Macaluso.  More information will be in the next newsletter.

Newsletter – Vivian Mahli

As the new editor of our newsletter, I wanted to thank everyone for their timely submissions to the first issue of our new year.  Thanks also to Pam Powers who gave me a lot of information on putting this together.

If you have anything that you feel should be included in the monthly newsletter, please send it to me via email before the 15th of each month.  Monthly reminders will not be sent out unless the deadline changes.

Cultural Interest – Sue Brandt

Information will be published as it becomes available.

Gardening – Deb Newton

This group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month.  Information will be published as it becomes available.

Movie Group – Jodean Brooks and Pam Powers

Jodean and Pam will contact the membership prior to the last Tuesday of the month with the movie selection and brunch venue.  Those interested may respond to Jodean via email.
