The 2018 Gateway to Equity Award was presented to Tom Wiese, Executive Director of Girls Hope by Jackie Heaney.
The Beaver Valley Branch has selected Girls Hope of Pittsburgh to receive the Gateway to Equity Award. Girls Hope helps young women as young as 10 build a foundation for success by providing a nurturing home, quality education, and opportunities through college. They currently maintain two homes in Baden and Coraopolis.

Named Gift Honorees:
Pam Powers and Mary Beth Quinn have been selected this year as the Named Gift Honorees. Pam is being honored for her outstanding efforts as Chairof the Bake Sale portion of the Kitchen Tour which is the annual fundraiser for scholarship money.
Mary Beth is being honored for her efficient handling of the Kitchen Tour Tickets. She handles the lunch tickets as well as tour tickets. She manages the members tickets, the tickets available at local gift shop, plus phone call requests.
AAUW -PA Outstanding Woman:
Betsey Uslenghi was selected for her service in various capacities at the branch. She currently serves as the Chair of the newly formed Wellness and Friendship Committee. She is responsible for sending cards to our members and arranging for greeters at our meetings. She created a beautiful invitation to our ‘Getting to Know Us’ meeting that was published in ‘Beaver County Times.’ Betsey also is the Chair off arranging for the vendors that we have at the Kitchen Tour.
Debi Breit-Adams was selected for her excellent leadership and thorough preparation. She has been supportive and knowledgeable concerning AAUW matters
MEMBER MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Current Membership Vice-President Sharon Nerone has been selected for this honor. Since membership is our focus this year, the Beaver Valley Branch felt it fitting to honor Sharon. She has shown exemplary efficiency and diligence in obtaining and welcoming new members. Sharon devised a better system for our name tags and transports them and our branch banner to all meetings and events.
