2021 AAUW Beaver Valley Branch AWARDS

Gateway to Equity Award – Someone in the community who has promoted inclusion of women in the workplace as well as other leadership roles.

Linda Homyk, MSN, RN serves as Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Heritage Valley Health System. Through Linda, we are saluting our Frontline Hometown Health Care Heroes who are working during the Covid-19 pandemic as they manage unsurmountable challenges to preserve the health of our community.

Linda provides oversite to the three nursing leadership teams at Heritage Valley Beaver, Sewickley and Kennedy.  She is responsible for development, education and training of nurse leaders to advance in their roles and for bedside nurses to ascend into leadership  roles as their experience expands.  Linda advocates for nursing development, achievement and advancement of nursing within the healthcare system.

 

Member Making a Difference Award Member who has made a big difference in something of importance to the branch within the past year.

Deborah Mangelli is being recognized for bringing her knowledge, confidence and expertise to the Investment Group as Chair.  Her leadership generated interest among members and others as she leads discussions on stocks and presents useful information.  Professionally, Debbie has been a registered Division Leader with PFS Investments for 16 years.  She served as Program Co-Chair for two years and also supports the Kitchen Tour.

 

Outstanding Woman of the Branch Award For meritorious service to the AAUW Branch and the community.  It is usually only given to a member once for an accumulative body of service.

Linda Lobozzo is being honored for her dedication and leadership on the Scholarship Committee since 2012 where she recruits traditional and non-traditional college bound students.  Linda interviews candidates and assembles their materials for review and selection.  She also serves as Chair of Literature I.  For several years, Linda chaired the profitable Handbag & Accessories Boutique for the Kitchen Tour.

 

Named Gift Honoree Member who has shown leadership or great effort to the Branch.

Deborah Newton is being honored for serving as Chair of the Garden Interest Group and presenting innovative and interesting ideas, thus maintaining and attracting new members.  As Public Policy Chair, she presents information from State and National with clarity.  Deb presents insightful reviews in Literature III book reviews.  She has served on the Program Committee and faithfully serves on the Kitchen Tour.
