Meet author Diane Bell
I am a retired elementary teacher. My husband and I have been married 46 years and raised 3 children. While raising our own chickens, I found them to be quite amusing and knew there was a story to tell there, so that’s how Chelsie Chicken’s Choice came about. My book, Wally Waits, was inspired from my many years of teaching the monarch butterfly’s complete metamorphosis life cycle in my classroom.
Each of my books are fourfold: I wanted to not only tell a story, but to also teach a “life lesson”‘; thirdly, to give many educational facts about my real life creature; and lastly, I incorporated repetitive speech patterns throughout the story and compiled the Word list at the back that would be helpful for those students who struggled with their speech sounds. Chelsie Chicken learns that II mistakes are not bad – they are for learning II and Wally the caterpillar learns to “have patience”.
All proceeds from the sales of my books are placed into a Kindness Fund that we have set up in memory of our daughter, Tiffany Brooke Bell. The funds are used to purchase Thanksgiving and Christmas meals through the Salvation Army and City Rescue Mission in our local area. Serving meals to the needy was near and dear to Tiffany’s generous heart.
Please stop by my booth at the Marketplace for a chat and to see my original children’s books.
