Mary Ann Falcone Bolland accepted the 2012 Gateway to Equity Award on behalf of Homemaker Home Health Aide Service of Beaver County at the March 3rd AAUW Beaver Valley Branch meeting. The AAUW-PA Gateway to Equity Award celebrates both Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. This award honors an individual, group, or organization that has shown by action and philosophy the promotion of the AAUW mission: “to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.”
“Caring to Preserve Human Dignity” is the purpose of the Homemaker-Home Health Aide Service of Beaver County. They provide essential home care services to improve the quality of life for elderly persons and younger adults with disabilities throughout Beaver County. Established in 1971, they provide training and employment for over 90 employees who are mainly female.
One of the programs that they offer is Pathways. Pathways provide support to Beaver County women facing the challenge of cancer at no cost. Services include light housekeeping, laundry and linen changes, meal preparation, personal care, and respite care.
Mary Ann Falcone Bolland, Executive Director, has a B.S. from Villa Maria College and a M.Ed. from Pennsylvania State College of Human Development and Family Studies.
