AAUW member, Norma Kehr, was honored at the 6th Annual Beaver County Women’s Conference on April 5, 2012 as a STAR. Every year, women of the community are honored for their community contributions.
After Graduation from Penn State, Norma began teaching English at Northwestern (Blackhawk). She directed plays and was adviser for the school newsletter. She established chapters of Quill and Scroll, National Thespians, and National Honor Society. She directed and helped establish the Beaver County Junior Miss Pageant, was Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and PSEA secretary/parliamentarian. After coaching Blackhawk /High School Cheerleaders for 30 years, she established and coached the Penn/Ohio All Star squads.
She retired from Blackhawk after 38 years and then substituted for another four. She continues to chair the PASR Spelling Bee. Serves on several scholarship committees, scores track meets, and volunteers as a tutor in Puerto Rico where she and her husband, Ray, winter. Norma is Beaver Valley Community Concerts Association Co-President, Past President of Outlook Club and AAUW. She remains as Antique Interest Group Leader, Public Information and Awards Committee Chair, and Kitchen Tour committee member. After forty years of sailboat racing, Norma and Ray continue to compete at Pymatuning Yacht Club.
