AAUW AWARDS – 2023
The awards committee was pleased to honor branch members and a community
member for their endeavors in the spirit of the AAUW mission during the past year.
NAMED GIFT HONOREES
Awarded to three members who have shown leadership and great effort to the Branch:
SHARON NERONE
- program Vice President plans a variety of programs for all branch meetings
- Coordinates and confirms presentations
- Chairs Accessories Committee for the Kitchen Tour
JEAN SNITGER
- Manages all yard signs for the Kitchen Tour
- Distributes and posts signs all over the area
- Provides great publicity for the Kitchen Tour
MARIANNE TURNER
- A new member who stepped up to serve as branch secretary
- Organized all vendors for the Kitchen Tour 2022 and plans more for 2023
- Volunteers at Girls’ Recognition Night
MEMBER MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Awarded to a member who has made a significant difference of something of importance to the branch:
NANCY MAHOSKY
- Served as the branch Financial Officer for 16 years keeping financial records in perfect order
- Collects membership dues annually
- Interacts with National & State AAUW regularly submitting dues and data as required.
OUTSTANDING WOMAN OF THE BRANCH
Awarded to a member for meritorious service to the branch and community for her accumulative service:
FRAN COLAFELLA
- Year-after-year, visited each home on the Kitchen Tour to interview homeowners,
gather details of the kitchens, and compose descriptions for the ticket booklet - Collected & organized recipes for the recipe booklet
- Secured all Kitchen Tour printing courtesy of First Energy
GATEWAY TO EQUITY
Honors individuals or organizations that have shown by action and philosophy that
they advance equity for women through advocacy, education, philanthropy or research:
NORM MITRY
President & CEO, Heritage Valley Health System
- Nearly 29 years of leadership and vision at Heritage Valley Health System
- Provides inclusion and advancement opportunities for women in the workforce at all levels
- Offers career advancement opportunities including tuition reimbursement and scholarship programs.
